are YOU safe ☠?

Internet is the network of networks. We can do almost anything by connecting to the internet.Browsing for advertisement, looking for jobs, sending messages, sharing files, online banking can be done at our fingertips. It's easy,it's effective,it's convenient, but does it SAFE?That's why we said 'Convenience comes with a cost'.

Before talking about how to secure ourself, let check out on the list of most famous digital attack.

1.Malware : The combination of computer viruses,trojan horses,worms,spyware,adware,etc.

2.Phishing : A criminal act that acquire sensitive information such as passwords and credit card no.

3.Hacking : Breaks into computers and computer networks illegally

4.DDOS attack : Attempt to make an computer resource unavailable to its users

5.Human Error : Unwittingly posting confidential information on social networks

'Do you think you are safe in the cyberworld? ' A asked.

'Ya.Everytine I access and login to a webpage,I key in password,Even my PC also password protected.Besides that,I have antivirus,firewall plus,spyware and malware removal.'B replied.

That is usually how we define SAFE.Installing all those softwares and naively thinking we are secured from all those digital attacks. To protect ourselves,we need to cover from the device to the cloud. Here is the checklist that might be useful:

1.Always update your OS,softwares and internet browser because regular updates may include repairs for security vulnerabilities.

2.Change your password periodically and don't use a dictionary word or common word.

3.Use a secure connection and sign inand check for any strange activity on your accounts.

4.Watch out for messages that ask for username and passwords, never share them on other websites

5.Clear passwords, browsing history and cookies on a regular basis.

5.Never let unknown data travelers plug in to your computer or let someone use your computer without your knowledge.

Security problem is an unsolvable problem because it is people problem. We usually complaint internet allows people to impersonate alternate identities freely but we overlook a fundemental point: Online,we all have to assume multiple personae. So,what we can do,prevention better than cure.

When Facebook meet Skype

If you are still busy planting vegetables or building cities in Facebook, you may be outdated. If you are still busy uploading and tagging photos of yourself or any one else, you still may be outdated.Well, you may not know as a Facebook user, you currently enrolled yourself in a revolution, a Phone Book revolution!

Just imagine, when you meet a new friend,i assume that after all the chit chat, you will first ask for his/her contact number and secondly neither home address nor email but Facebook username.Facebook somehow becomes the most common way we connect each other nowadays.

Talking about Skype, this software really attracts people with the free international calls throughinternet. With this communication tool,we have no worry to stay connect with our family members and friends in any corner of the world anytime.True,we save a lot of money and time with Skype but there comes a problem when you're looking for a friend ,it is difficult for us to sift through all the names from the amorphous directory.

In essence,as a communication tool,as a social technology, Skype is still lacking one thing so called social kick. With Facebook massive "social database",Skype can be more germane to the average user.As for Facebook, there are rumours that this social network giant is planning to launch a phone of its own.Facebook is aiming to be the central messaging and communications platform for its users.

And now, we don't really need an address book to record all our contacts, all we need is our handheld device .Well,I prefer to call iPhones and all sort of smart phones as handheld device because they are too powerful to be called as phones. So,who knows few years later,we can just forget about registering mobile phone packages, all we need is to connect to the cloud.

so what ICT ?!

As a freshman in this binary-coded world,I really don't have any idea about ICT.For me, ICT may refer to ice cream tea because I am a food maniac.Just when I sat down, buried my head on the books and sticked my fingers on the keyboard,my eyes opened widely.

Back to the mid of 20th century, thanks to AT&T and Tim Berners-Lee,the faculties of telecommunication and IT were brought together and Internet was established as a powerful media. The convergence is called Internet and Communication Technologies.Voila! That is how and when ICT appear.

For now,ICT is an essential part of our daily life as we are now in a information-based society and the demands of access data, information and knowledge from anywhere, anytime are booming.Yesterday we talk about Netscape,Nokia,Yahoo, ICQ; today we talk about Firefox,iPhone,Google,Facebook etc.Who knows what we will talking about tomorrow?

A simple word to conclude what's ICT: We can't share information without communication,we can't communicate without information;just like the theory of chicken and egg.
